  13. This  archive  unpacks to a directory called 'diffs'.  The archive is named
  14. according  to the week's full data to which they should be applied in order
  15. to generate the following week's data.  The filename format is:

  17.   imdbDiffYYMMDD.lha

  19. For  example, imdbDiff941230.lha contains the diffs to be applied to the
  20. 30th  December  1994  files  in order to generate the files for 6th January
  21. 1995.

  23. The  program  'ApplyDiffs'  applies all files of the weekly diff-archive to
  24. the  listfiles  of the Internet MovieDatabase and checks the consistency of
  25. the data.

  27. You'll  need last week's listfiles and the utility 'ApplyDiffs' in order to
  28. update your database.

  30. NOTE:   if  you miss more than one weeks worth of updates you need to apply
  31. the  patches  for  all  the missing weeks in succession to bring your local
  32. copies up to date.

  39. The   Internet  Movie  Database  is  an  international  organization  whose
  40. objective  is  to  provide useful and up to date movie information *freely*

  51. companies;    sound   mix;   reference   literature;   filming   locations;
  52. sequel/remake  information;  release dates; advertising tag lines; detailed
  53. technical  data;  alternative versions; laserdisc availability; and Academy
  54. Award information.

  56. The database aims to capture any and all information associated with movies
  57. from  across the world, starting with the earliest cinema, going through to
  58. the  very  latest  releases  and  even  movies  still  in production.  Many
  59. thousands  of  movies  are  covered completely from the major actors to the
  60. minor  bit  players  and  crew members.  All the information comes from the
  61. users of the database so please continue to support it and help it to grow.

  63. e-mail  interface  or  for  local  installation  on  Unix, Amiga and MS-DOS
  64. machines.
